Paediatric Palliative Care Group

Chair: Dr Yifan Liang

Due to a substantial reduction in funding for the Clinical Networks this year, we have been directed to focus on a reduced number of national priorities. Child health is not one of our 2016/17 priorities and as such we are unable to provide administrative or project management support to the Paediatric Palliative Care Group.

We want to take this opportunity to commend the work of this group between the period 2013 – 2016 and we have compiled a document of their achievements which is available via the link below. The group continues to meet and contacts can be provided if required.

Child Health Network Legacy Document

To bring together clinicians with direct and indirect involvement in paediatric palliative care provision along with other key representatives from hospices, charities, commissioning and service managers. To provide a forum for the identification and discussion of palliative care priorities and to develop action plans to address these. This group provides regular updates at the Child Health Advisory Group and also links in with the Supportive, Palliative and End of Life Care Group.

  • To ensure that all children with life limiting conditions have access to appropriate care and support as and when needed, in the most appropriate environment and with staff that have specialist knowledge in this area.
  • To create a paediatric palliative care service that is equitable across the entire network region.
