Visit of Claire Murdoch, National Director of Mental Health – 2nd February 2017

Aims and objectives:

This meeting followed on from a previous meeting, coordinated by NHS England North Medical Directorate, with Claire Murdoch where the Northern England Clinical Network was presenting. Claire was keen to find out more about the areas of the North and we took her up on this offer.

The objectives of the day were to provide an opportunity to hear about and discuss:

• An overview of the Northern England geography and population as well as approaches to the commissioning and provision of care
• An update on progress, achievements and challenges in meeting the MHFYFV key deliverables
• Update from the national mental health programme
• Consideration as to how we can mutually support each other to improve mental health care
• Agreement about future working and communications
