Liaison Mental Health

The Northern England Clinical Networks has coordinated a range of activities to support the development of Liaison Mental Health services across Northern England.

In 2016 a comprehensive mapping exercise was carried out to enhance local understanding of the current provision of liaison services and information packs were produced to help local areas develop bids for transformation funding.  This information was shared at an event on 7th November 2016.  The slides from the event can be accessed here.  If you would like to see the local information packs please contact a member of the network team on england.northernmentalhealth@nhs.net.

This exercise showed that, whilst there is variation across the network, we have some excellent liaison services on Northern England.  We have collected examples of good practice from across Northern England and beyond which can be found in our liaison resources section.

NECN has now established 2 forums to take this work forward:

The Liaison Practitioners Forum is aimed at front line liaison staff, those working the 24/7 rotas such as nurses, occupational therapists, social workers and physiotherapists.  The purpose of the group is to provide an opportunity to provide peer support and learning and to develop Northern England wide resources where appropriate.  If you would like to learn more about the group please visit the group page.

The Liaison Leadership Forum is for Consultant Liaison Psychiatrists, Nurse Consultants, Psychologists, Operational Managers and others directly involved in the management and development of services.  Please visit the group page to learn more. Currently this Forum is under review.
