Vascular Advisory Group

Chair: Professor Gerry Stansby, Professor of Vascular Surgery

The Vascular Advisory Group provides a forum for strategic planning by bringing together expertise from the field of Vascular Surgery and Peripheral Arterial Disease.

The group is responsible for developing an annual work programme aligned to NHS England’s priorities, including identifying models of care to improve service delivery for patients to achieve national and local targets.

The members of the group support continuous service improvements by providing clinical advice, identifying priorities and sharing learning.

Priorities for 2016/17 include:

• Implementation of the Review of Vascular Services including –
o Agreeing Arterial Centres
o Agreeing Hub and Spoke models
o Agreeing pathways of care for non-urgent vascular work
o Agreeing emergency access to care
• Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) Quality Improvement Programme
• Reduction of Amputation Rates
• Improvement of Carotid Endarterectomy Pathway
